Remembrance
Hebrews 11: V1 – 2, V6 – 7(a)
“Faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen.
For by it the men of old received divine approval.”
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him.
For whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists
and that He rewards those who seek Him.
By faith Noah, being warned by God
concerning events as yet unseen,
took heed and constructed an ark for the saving of his household.”
“nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
Neither shall they learn war anymore.” Micah 4; V3(b)
Lord, despite warnings from those who have gone before us
We have not yet turned against hideous warfare.
From places, great in number, we daily hear reports of war.
At this particular time
We remember the wounded, in mind and body, the dying and the dead.
Do not let us forget them.
And as we remember, Lord,
We ask Your pardon that we are so slow in learning.
Let us be like Noah, prepared to stand out from the crowd
And build an “ark” for the saving of Your household.
Let others see in our living, the message of love and peace, that Jesus offers.
Grow our faith in You, Lord, that the unbelievable may become believable.
Grant us an assurance of things hoped for (settlement by negotiation);
A conviction of things not seen (peace in Your world).
And in our end, Lord,
grant us the gift of divine approval that we will be with You in eternity.
Give us the strength to be as Paul wrote
“Not that I have attained, or already perfected,
but I press on to take hold of that
for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” Philippians 3; 12
AMEN, AMEN
