Hannah’s Song Part 1
Listen to this daily worship
1 Samuel 2: 1-5 (NRSVA)
1 Hannah prayed and said,
‘My heart exults in the Lord;
my strength is exalted in my God.
My mouth derides my enemies,
because I rejoice in my victory.2
‘There is no Holy One like the Lord,
no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.3
Talk no more so very proudly,
let not arrogance come from your mouth;
for the Lord is a God of knowledge,
and by him actions are weighed.4
The bows of the mighty are broken,
but the feeble gird on strength.5
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
but those who were hungry are fat with spoil.
The barren has borne seven,
but she who has many children is forlorn.
There is almost nothing I would write that would capture the joy and beauty of this reading, Please, just take a moment.
Hannah says:
“My heart rejoices in the Lord;
My horn is exalted in the Lord,
My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies,
Because I rejoice in Your salvation.” (NASB)
It’s just a horn section of power and glory and deliverance and forgiveness and, and and…
This never stops in this verse. She is in perfect flow with the creator. Our creator.
If you stand on the mountaintop.
If you stand by the sea.
If you look out over the valley.
And if you believe and say out loud (try it)
“Jesus, the Lord is King
Jesus, the Lord is King”
You will feel that thrill of faith in your heart.
A loosening of chains.
A wide wide sky opening up before you
Wherever and however you are
Because you are letting in and you are letting out
The glory of God
And the hope of faith
And the knowledge of a life everlasting
A blues which is timeless and joyful and endless
Prayer:
Lord,
I will just say
You are the King
You are my everything
You are the King
You are my everything
You are my everything
My everything
My King
