What’s Happened?
Philippians 4: 2-3
I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to agree with each other in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
We used to get on so well.
We worked together
We laughed at the same things.
He shared his troubles, worries, fears.
But then the change.
Disagreement acknowledged.
Disappointment expressed.
Drift.
‘What’s happened with those two,’ people ask.
Thing is, I’m not sure.
I thought he was speaking up too much, pushing himself forward, leaving me behind.
I suppose I was resentful, even jealous.
I preferred the days when I set the pace, when I was mentor, when mine was the hand on the shoulder.
Where am I now?
Standing with him on level ground I suppose,
And needing Your help
To accept he has to grow;
To forgive the times of hurt;
To live a new role,
To move forward to a better relationship,
Without suspicion,
Without resentment,
Wishing only the best for a brother in the Lord.
