Psalm 27: 7-9 (NRSVA)

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud,
    be gracious to me and answer me!
8 ‘Come,’ my heart says, ‘seek his face!’
    Your face, Lord, do I seek.
9     Do not hide your face from me.

Do not turn your servant away in anger,
    you who have been my help.
Do not cast me off, do not forsake me,
    O God of my salvation!

Perhaps for you this year is about seeking new things, perhaps it is also about seeking God.

No matter how long we have known God there is always something new to learn, a new way in which our lives can be hopeful and our outlook can be even more loving than before.

What would your year look like if right here, at the start, you saw God’s face?

Would you change how you were about to act, would you feel able to do something different?

Prayer:

Dear God of seeking

Thank you that we can always be with you

Thank you that you can reveal yourself to us in new ways

Help us to make the changes our lives need

Help us to see you in our lives

Amen
