Psalm 150

Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.

Lord,
I’m amazed at the ingenuity of people
I saw a man throw saucepans out of a bag
He was in the middle of the street
Pots and pans make a fair old din
The noise cause people to stop and stare
Soon he drew a crowd around him
Then he began to tell his story
He was like a man playing an instrument
He was playing the crowd.

Like the old time entertainers.
He knew the buttons to press
the notes to play - the right noises.
Pots and pans in ‘tin pan alley’
And not a piano in sight !

Lord,
Teach me to make the right noises
The right sounds to gather people around
I long that they might hear your story
The utterly amazing story of love unending
The sound of a gospel noise
A secret chord no longer secret.
A cheer a Hallelujah chorus

Lord
Raise up preachers and teachers
who will use their ingenuity,
(even if they come from ‘tin pan alley”),
to cause people to  stop  and stare
and in staring hear  and believe.
