Good stewards

Matthew 19: 24

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God

Father, what is true wealth?

It would be foolish to think the world will ever go back to a time when there was no money, when physical things had no value.  Jesus didn't say it was impossible for a rich man to enter the Kingdom but he did say it would be hard.

Father, help us to be wise in our use of the gifts you have given.  If we are able to use our gifts to earn money help us to be good stewards of our earnings, to buy only what we truly need, to save carefully for when times may be hard and to share what we can with others who are in greater need than we are ourselves.

If we are unable to find work help us to find contentment in what others can do for us.  Help us to use our time wisely and to find ways of sharing the riches we have - our friendship, our kindness, our compassion, our love. Amen
