God of creation

Genesis 1: 26-31

​Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”  So God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

​God of creation,

You are our maker: the one who clothes us with life, yet who sends us naked into a world of coldness and threat. Help us always to marvel at your trust in humanity, and your trust in us.

It is amazing to consider that we are made in your very image, and charged with the huge responsibility of living out our lives in a God-like way: exercising stewardship over your wonderful Earth; living in community with our fellow human beings; and seeking your ways of justice through all of life.

Bless those who enter this world. Show us how to value the tiniest and the most vulnerable in our society, and help all the little ones to grow in love of life, in love of neighbour, and in love of you, who will always be there – every step of the way. AMEN.
