Acceptance
Colossians 3:12-14
So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
Father, your word tells me that I’m accepted and forgiven.
Fill me with the peace of your presence.
Lord, as I accept your love and forgiveness take me and remake me into your servant for others.
Faced with your loving forgiveness I realise that pride is a worthless thing to desire.
Help me to give you the self-confidence that prevents me hearing you.
To lay it at your feet as an offering of gratitude for the sacrifice on the cross of your son Jesus.
When inferiority seeks to overwhelm me fill me with your confidence so that I can become a support for others.
Lord, feeling superior diminishes the worth of others.
We are all made in your image help me appreciate the worth in others
and to value the gifts you have given them.
Come live within me and lead me day by to acceptance of your transforming love and grace.
AMEN
