Psalm 105: 1-11, 45b

1 O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name,
    make known his deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
    tell of all his wonderful works.
3 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
    seek his presence continually.
5 Remember the wonderful works he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he has uttered,
6 O offspring of his servant Abraham,
    children of Jacob, his chosen ones.

7 He is the Lord our God;
    his judgments are in all the earth.
8 He is mindful of his covenant forever,
    of the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
9 the covenant that he made with Abraham,
    his sworn promise to Isaac,
10 which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute,
    to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
    as your portion for an inheritance.”

45b Praise the Lord!

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.” - Anne Frank

We praise you Lord of heaven and earth,

full of wonder at the works of your hands

full of wonder at the detail of nature

full of wonder at the rhythm of seasons

full of wonder at the depth of the sea

full of wonder at the migration of birds

full of wonder at the closed cycle of water

full of wonder at the vulnerable flowers of spring

full of wonder at the work of bees and ants

full of wonder at the spider’s web covered in dew

full of wonder at the pungent wild rose scent

full of wonder at the daily provision of hen eggs

full of wonder at the reliable sunrise and set

full of wonder at the cycle of the moon and the tides

full of wonder at the awesome starlit skies

the same skies that Abraham gazed at

after you made your covenant to him long ago?

a promise believed best in the darkness of night.
