Luke 3:21-23

You are my son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.

What a wonderful starting point, Father,
for Jesus to hear these words from You
Not a public word spoken.
Not a public action undertaken.
But You affirm Him as Your Son.
You accept him in Your love.
You smile with pleasure.

We love to hear You say that to us, Father.
When other voices put us down,
You are my child...
When we feel unloved,
Whom I love...
When criticism cuts deep,
with you I am well pleased.

Before we say a word,
Before we do anything,
You embrace us,
and smile.

Father, what a way to start the day!
