We Will Wait
Acts 4.32-34
All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
Lord,
It must have been quite an experience living around the Apostles,
Those first few months after Pentecost were amazing.
It sounds to me a kind of holy collectivism was breaking out.
The church in Jerusalem looks like a commune.
It has all the hallmarks of the beginnings of a welfare state.
Everyone was willing to share their belongings.
Above all Your presence and power was being encountered.
The Holy Spirit was transforming the way people were thinking.
Then there was the situation with Ananias and Sapphira
Lord,
From this distance, through time, we dare not comment.
On the sins of others
Less we fall into the trap of hypocrisy
In silence
We will wait
Reflect
And confess our sins
And ask that you do not remove the Holy Spirit from us.
Give to each of us the courage to make right the wrongs of our past.
