Waiting
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 130: 5-6 (NRSVA)
5
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;6
my soul waits for the Lord
more than those who watch for the morning,
more than those who watch for the morning.
Standing in the still and quiet after the storms of our lives we wait and hope. We wait as we feel the last of the storm drift away, we wait as we watch the horizon for what may come next.
The psalmist reminds us that we do not wait alone. We are joined by fellow watchers and waiters though we may not know their names. We are joined by those who have watched and waited before us and whose echo remains to give us hope. And of course we are joined by God, Jesus and the Spirit who are with us even as we wait for them and who guide us to the next adventure, when we are ready.
PRAYER:
Dear God of waiting
Thank you that we have so much company in our watching
Be present in our world and in our community
Bring love and peace to everyone on earth who waits for what will come
Help us to feel it and not to feel alone, whatever the weather.
Amen
