The value of sunrise repetition
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 107: 1-2a (GNT)
1 “Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good;
his love is eternal!”
2a Repeat these words in praise to the Lord,
all you whom he has saved.
One thing I miss during these strange days is getting into school and sharing assemblies. There is a great action song I love to sing with the children with my accordion: “Get up out of bed, have a yawn and scratch your head, and say thank you, it’s a brand-new day. Stretch out, touch your toes, blink your eyes and blow your nose, and say thank you, it’s a brand-new day.” I say it wouldn’t be a bad thing to arise in the morning with that little song on our lips! Perhaps you would prefer “This is the day that the Lord has made” or perhaps you have another favourite line or two to greet God as a new day dawns? If it is the same line every day is that a bad thing?
The value of repetition means that we start each and every day with God, whatever routine brings us to that place. Repeat these words, as the psalmist encourages us to do, because sometimes we do forget and wonder where God is and wonder about his love. Love is indeed all around us, now and for all eternity!
PRAYER:
We give thanks to you, our God, for this new day, for all your goodness, and for your love which surrounds us now and will always surround us, never ending. We give thanks to you, our God, for this new day, for all your goodness, and for your love which surrounds us now and will always surround us, never ending… (repeat as often as you like and soak in God’s goodness and love…) Amen.
