The service of work
Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Almighty God,
Thank you that you gave me gifts and abilities to work
and that as I work using those given gifts
I love and serve you as I love and serve my neighbour.
Thank you that I can serve by working well.
Lord today give me the grace to work and serve well,
giving You the sacrifice of a job well done with a thank full heart.
And by Your grace let my work can be an act of love to my neighbour
expressed by working well.
Thank You that my value is not in what I do, but who I am.
That I can express who I am in what I do.
A child loved by you and gifted by you.
Lord, today, help me appreciate the work done by others and value their labour as you value mine.
As I work may I worship you.
For Your glory
Amen
