The prison of addiction
Philippians 3:17-21
‘Join with others in following my example, brothers and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you. For, as I have often told you before and now say again with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is their stomach, and their glory is their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, who by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.’
Song
I am a new creation,
no more in condemnation,
here in the grace of God I stand.
My heart is overflowing,
my love just keeps on growing,
here in the grace of God I stand.
And I will praise You, Lord,
yes I will praise You, Lord,
and I will sing of all that You have done.
A joy that knows no limit,
a lightness in my spirit
here in the grace of God I stand.

Prayer
Father - this habit has become a problem
I thought I could control it
But now it controls me
Too much time and energy is given to feed it
It is a thief come to rob my freedom
An idol I abhor
It damages my body, soul & spirit
It consumes and gives little back
A moment’s pleasure, quickly forgotten
Weakening my resolve and will power
Guilt and condemnation are constant companions
Who will rescue me from this body of death?
Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord
I choose Christ, and to bring this under His control
I submit to the Spirit’s desire rather than my own
I can do all everything through Him who gives me strength!
I am a new creation.
