Luke 4: 14–15
Jesus rejected at Nazareth
14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
Today we pause to give thanks for the teaching of Jesus,
the teaching which Luke tells us caused everyone to praise him.
May our familiarity with the words not blunt our hearing of the message.
May our knowledge of the words not blunt our response of praise.
Today we pause to remember our dependence of “the power of the Spirit”,
the same Spirit which led and motivated Jesus.
May we never grow so confident in ourselves that we ignore your presence within us.
May we never lack confidence in the power of your Spirit within us.
As we return each day to the tasks set for us
and to the challenges which confront us,
may we do so with faith and obedience and unfailing gratitude.
