Running a Straight Race

Philippians 3:16-17

Let us live up to what we have already attained. 
Join with others in following my example, brothers,
and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.

Now we are on the right track, let's stick to it.  
Father we know that, like Paul, we maybe didn't make the best start.  
We made the wrong choices,
listened to the wrong advice,
did things that must have made your heart bleed.
But now we have found the right track help us to follow it.  
Help us to remember the good advice of those who already know you
and so do our best to hold you at the centre of all we do.  
Help us to be proud, in a good way, of the example we can set for others,
living up to the standards you set for us in Jesus.  
Enable us to keep training
and getting better at using the gifts you have given us
so that others may know we are Christians
and that we run a straight race through your grace.

As we journey on may we hold on to all that is good
and follow in the footsteps of those who walk your way.
