The shame of recognising Love unnoticed
Listen to this daily worship
Zechariah 12: 10 (NRSVA)
10 And I will pour out a spirit of compassion and supplication on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that, when they look on the one whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.
Here is an evocative passage that invites the reader to consider the overwhelming nature of remorse. How devastating it would it be, when time has ended to discover God was in fact in Jesus of Nazareth reconciling the world to himself. Just as it is spoken of in scripture.
The one who was pierced and nailed to a cross was God among us. How tragic to realise the nature and magnitude of your disbelief and what you failed to see. It is so important for those who have dismissed the cross to take a second look. As for us? We go in the power of the Spirit to speak of grace to a broken world that all might believe for that surely is the intention of God.
PRAYER:
Lord,
Remember me
When you come into your Kingdom
Forgive my disbelief
For I fear
I have
Passed by
On the other side
Treating your sacrifice with contempt
I have failed to see love expands in costly suffering
The cross is such a foolish notion
To one like me seeking understanding through reason
Yet reason diminishes my heart
Love reaches beyond logic
Into suffering
Into sorrow
Into forgiveness
Into Hope
Into faith
Into eternity
Lord,
Remember me
Out of Love
When you come into your Kingdom
Forgive my disbelief
