Praying and Sharing
Psalm 118: 1-4
ACTS 4
23 After they were released, they went to their friends and reported what the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard it, they raised their voices together to God and said, “Sovereign Lord, who made the heaven and the earth, the sea, and everything in them, 25 it is you who said by the Holy Spirit through our ancestor David, your servant:
‘Why did the Gentiles rage,
and the peoples imagine vain things?
26 The kings of the earth took their stand,
and the rulers have gathered together
against the Lord and against his Messiah.’Psalm 118 v1- 4
O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his steadfast love endures forever!Let Israel say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”Let the house of Aaron say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”Let those who fear the Lord say,
“His steadfast love endures forever.”Out of my distress I called on the Lord
the Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.
Lord give me ears to hear the realities of the cries, the shouts and clamour of the world around me.
Give me eyes to see the challenges, pain and despair.
Reveal to me what I need to be attentive to.
Bring me beyond myself, beyond the blue and grey of all that troubles the world
the deprivations,
all that alienates,
everything that isolates
that causes despair and hopelessness.
Bring me to that spacious space, that broad place where I take all that I hear and see to You;
where I may raise my voice with others to you, our sovereign Lord, in thanksgiving and praise.
I come then and declare - ‘Your steadfast love endures for ever!’
