Peace be with you
Listen to this daily worship
John 20: 19-21
19 It was late that Sunday evening, and the disciples were gathered together behind locked doors, because they were afraid of the Jewish authorities. Then Jesus came and stood among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. 20 After saying this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I send you.”
When we are downhearted…up against it at work…troubled by family circumstances…fearful of our future…worried about health…anxious…unsettled…then at all these times and more, it is amazing how repeating that simple sentence of Jesus brings a sense of calm to our hearts: “Peace be with you.” Find a moment of quiet, close your eyes, and hear Jesus say these words to you: “Peace be with you.”
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, your peace, which is beyond our understanding, be with those who are troubled at this time. We think of them before you now…
Lord Jesus, may your peace break into those places in our world where there is no peace, bringing hope and reconciliation and harmony. We think of places and peoples before you now…
Lord Jesus your peace, which is beyond our understanding, be with us.
Amen.
