Patient hope
Listen to this daily worship
Romans 5: 6-8 (NRSVA)
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. 8 But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.
When you cast a net out into the water, you do not pull it straight back in. You leave it to settle and, when the time is right, you slowly draw it back in the hope of a catch…
In many cases, hope requires patience.
Hope gets us through so many times in our lives, doesn’t it?
Just now, many are waiting patiently in the hope of a cure to COVID-19.
People are waiting patiently in the hope of being told that they can leave their home for the first time since March.
People are waiting patiently in the hope of a negative test result...
God loves us…
God loves us so much that, despite our past and present weaknesses; despite our past and present sin; and despite each other,
God was prepared to send the Son of God into the World.
Now that is something to give us hope.
A hope that will never disappoint…
PRAYER:
Faithful, patient God,
we struggle to comprehend your unconditional love for us
but boy we are glad of it…
You sent your Son among us, to live, die and rise again
so that we might be reconciled to you.
You give us so much and yet, too often, we are less than grateful.
Forgive us..
As we seek to be your faithful followers;
show us your way,
each and every day.
Amen.
