Our greatest love

Exodus 6: 6-7 (NRSVA)
6 Say therefore to the Israelites, “I am the Lord, and I will free you from the burdens of the Egyptians and deliver you from slavery to them. I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgement. 7 I will take you as my people, and I will be your God. You shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has freed you from the burdens of the Egyptians.
One of the joys of ministering I have, is often hearing life testimonies of people dramatically transformed by the Lord. The believer’s testimony is always the shining example to the world around us of the miraculous work of God. The transformed heart is the outcome of the deliverance made by Christ in the bread and in the wine.
So many people that come to me want to tell me of their heartache, sorrow, their feelings of loss, their problems with abandonment and brokenness, their complete hopeless outlook at a world so steadfast in condemning, rejecting and demeaning them. ‘There, there, it’s going to be alright,’ is not comforting enough. It doesn’t cut it. It is not steadfast enough. It is not rooted enough. People want that holy hug, a true message deep from the Father’s heart.
God’s people everywhere have that truth to proclaim. It’s a truth that speaks to the heart of all the world’s ills: HE is the Lord; he will bring you out. HE is the Lord; HE will redeem you. HE is the Lord; HE will free you. HE is the Lord, you will be his, and he will be yours.
Show the world what he’s done for you, that they may taste and see it too.
PRAYER:
Father,
we are in the world
but we are not really of this world.
Our greatest desire,
our greatest love,
our greatest fulfilment
can only be found in you.
May we live
the bread and wine
in the communities
we serve.
Amen.
