14 I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel,
    and they shall rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them;
they shall plant vineyards and drink their wine,
    and they shall make gardens and eat their fruit.

Concrete cracks as weeds drift slowly upwards
Unnoticed
Moss creeps across the jagged surface of stones
Untended
Daily structures break apart and leave us wanting
Untethered
The Gardener sees the growth of the world and smiles
Unrestrained
The Gardener sees the cares of the people and loves
Unreservedly
The Gardener looks beyond time and sees hope
Unending

PRAYER:

Restoring God
You know about endings and beginnings
You know about darkness and light
Teach us to garden just like you
Teach us to restore, rethink, rebuild
Amen.
