Psalm 105: 1-4 (NRSVA)

1 O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name,
    make known his deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
    tell of all his wonderful works.
3 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
    seek his presence continually.

Women in the Bible don’t get much of a chance to share their voice and viewpoint so this week I have invited Lydia from Acts 16 to write a week of reflections:

Paul encouraged us to speak the truth to others, not to be afraid to share our new found faith in Jesus with each other and with those around us. But we are also called to seek the truth as this psalm reminds us. There are always more stories of Jesus to hear and more moments of realisation in our own lives from hearing them. When we meet together we can encourage each other to continue to seek, to be open to new possibilities in our lives from the words we hear and read. We can praise God and Jesus as the psalm says and let the knowledge of those deeds which have been witnessed soak into us and fill us with truth all over again so that we can go out into our cities and villages with true hearts and open minds as Jesus himself did on his travels.

PRAYER:

Dear God of truth

Help us to rest in your truth

and yet to never stop moving and learning through you

Send us into the world in the same way you gather us

with open minds to hear you all over again

Amen
