Hope Doesn’t Disappoint
Listen to this daily worship
Romans 5: 1-5 (NRSVA)
1 Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
What a great feeling it is to go to bed at night at peace with the world around. It is even more wonderful to feel at peace with God. Peace is that feeling we gain from standing on the precipice of hope knowing Jesus Christ has spoken peace into our lives. Listen to his words. And let them bring peace to you wherever “My peace I give unto you not as the world gives give I unto you - let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (See John 14: 27.)
PRAYER:
Lord,
Here I am at the precipice of hope
Standing feeling your breath
I’m no longer disappointed
I’m believing your promises
I’m expecting so much
Is this what it means to stand in grace
To let peace settle upon your heart
To literally just stand
To let joy bubble up
Holding your promises
If so I want to stay here forever
Peace and grace are whispering
Glory into my eyes and ears
Nothing seems to faze me
Suffering will come
But with its coming
Perseverance will arrive
And character will take up residence in my life
