Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Loving God,
who made this world in which we live,
we give thanks for this autumn season of the year when we are aware of
− the colours around us changing day by day,
− the air growing colder
− the days shortening
− and time moving on.
We rejoice in the gifts you have given to us in life.
We rejoice in the gift of people……..
Those who have been an important part of our lives.
Those who are no longer with us but are with that ‘great cloud of witnesses’.
We pause for a moment to remember them…………..
We give thanks for
− the richness,
− the inspiration
− the love
− and the wisdom they shared with us.
Loving God, part of who we are is because of who they were, and we cherish the blessings we have been given. AMEN
