Gospel of Mystery
Listen to this daily worship
Ephesians 2: 22 (NRSVA)
22 in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling-place for God.
The sixth aspect of the Gospel is that it gives an answer to the mystery of life itself. It seeks to help us navigate the big questions. Why was I born? How can I find peace in my life? How am I to relate to the world around?
When the Bible speaks of a mystery it does so in such a way that it can be revealed and known. It is the Holy Spirit who reveals the power of Jesus at work in our lives. Jesus is the key to understanding that whole universe. The mystery of why God would love us is a secret that has been revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. The mystery is being continually revealed to us more and more as we grow in grace. Graham Kendrick sums it up beautifully in the following words of his hymn: “Oh what a mystery meekness and majesty. Fall down and worship for this is your God.”
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus
It is not easy
For humans
Like me
Born into the world
To understand its purpose
Especially since we never asked to be born
Yet we arrive in a world not of our making
Shaped by generations before us
We are strangers in time seeking directions
If not for you
I’d be lost
We’d be lost
Looking for meaning
Searching for peace
Thank you for the secret of eternity
Placed in our hearts
That speaks to us of home
So close yet so far
Come Holy Spirit
Reveal the purpose of each of my days
That I might fulfil
My purpose
In a life
Given to me
That I do not own
For which I never asked
For I am a dependent on grace
To answer my questions of life
QUESTION: When was the last time I asked myself: Who am I? What is my purpose?
