God’s Glory

Ephesians 1: 11-14 (NRSVA)
11 In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, 12 so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; 14 this is the pledge of our inheritance towards redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
I love the image in Exodus 34: 29-35 of Moses coming down from Mount Sinai radiating the Glory of God. He has been talking with God and he returns shining, reflecting God’s Glory. It makes me sad though when the people are frightened of his radiance and he covers himself with a veil. My deepest desire in this life is to someday be so close to God that I reflect his glory, that I shine for him like Moses did.
I have a long way to go but I don’t despair as I have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me, to bring me closer to God. We all have the companionship of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. To bring us into a deeper, more intimate relationship with our Father. To help us develop and grow the gifts our Father God has given us. To share these gifts with others for the Glory of Our Father God and to bring those we encounter into their own intimate relationship with the Father.
PRAYER:
Father God,
You knew us and loved us before the world was even created.
You adopted us as your children and saved us through the blood of your son Jesus.
You marked us as your own.
You have given us the gift of the Holy Spirit as our guide and friend.
Open our hearts and our minds to your presence all around us.
Open our ears to your voice Father.
Help us to reflect your glory to the world and in the world.
We are yours
Forever
Amen
