God will provide

Proverbs 30: 8b - 9

Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread: otherwise I may have too much and disown you…. Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonour the name of my God.

Father, what is true wealth?

Lord it seems to me that true wealth is knowing that you will provide.  If we truly love you and want only to fulfil your purpose for us in our lives, our faith should assure us that you will give us all we truly need.  If we fill our lives with possessions we will find ourselves so over-burdened that we have no strength to do your work.  If we spend our time worrying about what to wear or what we may eat we will have no time to marvel at the lilies of the field, to stand and stare at the marvels of your wonderful world.  We will not make best use of the bounties of nature.

Lord, we do not ask to be poor or to be rich but rather to be content with what we have and to use it wisely.  Be with us and help us to do your will and to use all our gifts to serve you as best we can.  Amen
