Frustration fruitlessness in work
Gen 3:16-19
To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”
And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it’, cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
Redeemer God
You know how hard it can be.
Frustration at planting good seed and finding thistles growing.
Doing the best I can and yet finding it wanting.
I want to grow good things, produce good work, make good decisions and yet
less than good comes through.
It’s hard to push water uphill.
Lord, help me handle this frustration
in myself,
in others,
in circumstances,
with grace and peace,
gentleness and hope,
mercy and forgiveness
By your mercy
Help me to make sense of this and see that you have come to redeem work,
To redeem me and that I am part of your redemption plan.
Amid the frustration give me glimpses of how one day it will be.
Amen
