Forgiveness and healing
Matthew 18: 2-6
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
How could we not have noticed, for so long?
Under our very noses, the flower of our youth
corrupted for the sordid gratification
of the custodians of their security,
the cultural icons of their and our generations.
And these, the very ones in whom we may welcome you,
in whose likeness we may approach you.
Left to stagger through their years of experience
bearing the scars of their interrupted innocence.
Father, forgive - and come with healing in your wings…
