Revelation 22: 16-17 (NRSVA)

16 ‘It is I, Jesus, who sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.’

17 The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’
And let everyone who hears say, ‘Come.’
And let everyone who is thirsty come.
Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.

Plenty new to observe in the book of Revelation.

A new heaven and a new earth – change on a cosmic scale.

Some of the detail given in John’s vision is fantastic. It reads like science fiction, but this verse, at the very end, is a simple invitation.

The one fundamental essential of life is water.

However new the heavens and the earth,
we still need water,
the new water of new life.

 

 

PRAYER:

 

God of the new,

God of the unexpected,

spring of new life,

life everlasting,

give us your life-giving water for which we thirst.

 

For we know that you are still and forever making all things new.
