Come And Live For His Glory
Listen to this daily worship
Ephesians 1: 3-14 (NRSVA)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. 5 He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight 9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. 11 In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, 12 so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; 14 this is the pledge of our inheritance towards redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
She had kept the letter. The paper now yellowed with age, the print worn, but the letterhead was still clear. The seal and image of the firm offering her a job, her first job. It had all been worth it, the study and training, now she was called to serve, to work, and she was going to enjoy it.
PRAYER:
Creator God, into a beginning we cannot imagine you spoke all things.
When you spoke us you already loved us and purposed to bless us in Christ.
Lord Jesus Christ, beloved Son of the Father, your blood purchased our redemption, a priceless love—gift honouring your Father and saving us.
Glory—sealing Holy Spirit, life—gift of the Father and the Son, you are the assurance that we are loved by God and raised to new life for the praise of his glory.
Triune God of love and power, seal us for your glory, seal us with your glory, seal us as your glory.
Father, may we glorify your name in our lives. Receiving your blessing, submitting to your choosing, may our lives display before all creation the wonder of your creative power. Make us shine as your image that all creation may see and know you.
Beloved Saviour, may we glorify your name in our lives. Forgive our sins for the glory of your grace. Bring to birth in us the new life of the children of God for the glory of your mercy. Renew hope within us that you may be glorified in our hopefulness.
Promised Holy Spirit, may we glorify your name in our lives. Be the seal upon our lives. Empower us to live as heirs of God’s Kingdom, inhabiting the wide—open spaces of grace, sharing the limitless riches of love, maturing the depths of faithfulness.
Triune God of glory, add the voice of our Spirit—sealed lives to the wordless song of creation in praise of your glory.
