Blessings in abundance
James 3: 17-18
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace for those who make peace.
A wise man once wrote, “The more you give, the more comes back to you, because God is the greatest giver in the universe, and He won’t let you outgive Him. Go ahead and try. See what happens.”
Imagine a field full and ready to harvest. The crop of this field is righteousness, goodness, and everything we would hope to see in the world.
How did such abundance get there? The seeds were sown by those who make peace. Confidence in God’s provision, believing that God is meeting our every need out of His fullness, leads to peace of mind. Then there is no place for envy or rivalry or fighting against others for what we need. Living by heaven’s wisdom is a peace-loving lifestyle which leads to orchards dripping with juicy fruit, fields abundant with healthy crops. These fruits and these crops are love and goodness.
Lord of all wisdom and holiness, thank you for demonstrating purity, peace-making, consideration, forgiveness, and mercy, in Jesus. Grant to me the power and the courage to demonstrate these qualities as I seek to live like him. Amen.
