Beginning to Know God
Philippians 3:10
I want to know Christ--yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
Heavenly Father – we cry out with the words of the apostle Paul “I want to know Christ”. We come before you acknowledging that there is no greater priority, and no greater urgency, than truly knowing you.
We acknowledge Lord, that our best efforts to do good in this world, to be kind and loving, to serve others, to take part in religious duties – Lord that they are all but a mist and worthless if we do not know Christ as Lord and Saviour, and the source of all our good works.
May you grant us Lord, to know the power of His resurrection within us. Father, that we would experience that promise – that the same power that raised Christ from the dead indeed lives within us and empowers us to live victorious over sin, death and the grave.
Lord, may we know you more intimately, personally and fully- that participation in suffering for your sake would not be anything we would fear, but rather that any suffering could not outweigh the glory of knowing you.
Finally, Lord – would you enable us to know Christ that we might reflect Him, dying to ourselves – and giving all for His kingdom. Amen.
