A Bright Tomorrow
Revelation 21: 3-5
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling-place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’
He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’
Lord, how precious in my life are those who loved and nurtured me, who spoke to me of your love pointing me towards eternity with you. How sad and lonely for me when they departed this life, the pain and the grief seemed at times unbearable. And then as the Prophet of old I remember this, that because of your great love we are not consumed; for your compassions never fail they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.
Your promise of a bright tomorrow, the joy in knowing you, the peace which is mine as I trust your words of life, even in the midst of death…. these far outweigh the sorrow. And so, with patience I await that time when ALL things will be made new, I wait, with gratitude for loved ones now at rest, who know the dream is ended and morning has come in your presence and I wait with great expectation of new things, things as yet unseen. As we live with the great expectation we remember those who in dark and difficult places may our actions and our words be the crack in the darkness where the light gets in.
Amen.
