Longing for Harvest
During the month of September our theme will seek to encourage us all to think about how we are growing spiritually as individuals but also as members of the family of God. The parable of the sower is a reminder to us all that just as the seed has to face many barriers in order to grow and bear fruit, so we on hearing God’s word will also face barriers that will seek to diminish its growth in our lives. The story of Ruth also revolves around harvests and drought. It is a reminder to us that in the midst of great sorrow and disappointment there is hope and redemption to be encountered in every situation. The Famous Chapter 3 in Ecclesiastics reminds us that nothing ever stays the same. We are people living through change. The important thing to grasp is that we learn to live our lives in the seasons. We need to understand the season and the purpose. We conclude September and the theme of Harvest with the theme. “ My father is the gardner”. It is our hope as we plan these reflections for Sanctuary First readers, that we will begin to recognise God’s creative hand in our lives. The pruning and the cutting all have one great end purpose to produce fruit in our lives that will last.
