God In The Ordinary
The stable is bare, and the cross is empty. Christmas has come and Easter is a Lent away. We are in Ordinary Time. It’s perhaps easy to seek and meet God at Christmas, Easter, Advent, Penetecost… when our senses are heightened to all things Christ-centred. But what happens inbetween times? In the Ordinary Times? Let Sanctuary First help you in the ordinary times of life when it all seems humdrum, routine, dull even. We need to get into a pattern of worshipping God in all our times: ordinary and extraordinary. Take a look around you, and find something “ordinary”. Now think creatively of how you use this object in worship of God right now. Or perhaps, it can give you a “starter” for thinking how you might worship God right now. I can see a roll of Scotch tape on my desk. I think of it as ‘sticky tape’ and I give thanks for the fact that God is ‘sticky’. Sometimes we wriggle and squirm, or even run away, but God is still there, beside us: sticky! Get the idea? Now, you go and find God in the ordinary, everyday things of life.
