Daily Worship Writer - James Cathcart on Forgiveness

We thank Jane Denniston for her Daily Worship week and we welcome our own James Cathcart who concludes our Autumn theme The Bible: our Library, our Sanctuary beginning on Sunday 25 October.

The Bible is not a book - it is a place! As we arrive at the culmination of our integrated journey — moving from encountering God in the ordinary, through our pain, joy, rest, hope, self-discovery, and righteous rage — we reach the very heart of the biblical narrative: Forgiveness. The radical message of the Bible is that in meeting God, we meet forgiveness, a reality brought to its ultimate conclusion in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Our forgiven faults, our forgiven selves, and a forgiving community — shaped by a costly, redeeming grace — are the ultimate hallmarks of the power of God at work in the world.

"We stand here,
afraid and hopeful
easy and doubtful
familiar and new
and we see that anger never has the last word..."
