James 3:17
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
The hymn says, “The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord,” so we will take it as read that all we pray for in and through the Church we do so in the name of Jesus.
We pray for wisdom among the leadership and members of the Church of Scotland
Sometimes, O Lord, the wisdom of the world can bring confusion to our ears when we seek the wisdom of the Spirit. Enable the Church of Scotland, at all levels of operation and governance to have discretion to know what your Spirit is saying to His Church in our time. Give those of us working within the church an openness of heart to accept that you can work through the wisdom of the world and to have the discretion to interpret your presence there. Grant us the courage to follow what the Holy Spirit whispers into our hearts in an otherwise clamorous age.
