Weariness

Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

The scenery is wonderful
but the journey is tiring.
The company is entertaining
but we yearn for solitude.
We were excited when we set out
but that is now wearing thin
as time stretches out.
We are anxious to be there already,
done with moving,
looking for a place to settle.
God help us to find contentment
in the journeying.
May we recognise that you accompany us 
along the way
and don't simply await us at our destination.
And so may all your journeys
be transformed 
in the wonderful knowledge
of God with us
wherever we are.
