Victory or defeat

Matthew 20:16

So the last will be first, and the first will be last.

Father God,
teach me again for I have forgotten it,
that ‘success’ is reaching one’s true potential,
regardless of the outcome of the game or life situation,
victory or defeat.
Help me to rediscover what enjoyment is all about for,
while it is obviously enjoyable to play well and win,
it can also be enjoyable to play well and lose.
Success in your eyes O Lord is as much, if not more,
about participating and playing with others
as it is about competing with and securing victory over others.
Remind me that you call me to be firstly
a relational being ahead of a competitive one.
Amen.
