Unseen and silently.
Hebrews 13:1-2
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
Loving God,
in this season of autumn, the wind blows unseen and the leaves fall silently to the ground.
We remember today those who work unseen, silently, unacknowledged.
Those whose actions are not trumpeted but who make a difference to the lives of others, and to our lives,
Those who seek no recognition but who want to do nothing more than show love to those around them, simply because it is the right thing to do.
Those we might call the ‘angels’ in our lives, because without them our lives would be different.
Those who have shown to us deep compassion, care, concern and love when we have needed it most.
Loving God, we thank you for those close to us who are our ‘angels’, and for those who care for others in a way that makes them feel special, but which – unknown to them - show us just how special they themselves are. Help us to be willing to love others as we have sometimes been loved - unseen and silently. AMEN
