Unceasing
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 48: 9-14 (NRSVA)
9 We ponder your steadfast love, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
10 Your name, O God, like your praise,
reaches to the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with victory.
11 Let Mount Zion be glad,
let the towns of Judah rejoice
because of your judgements.12 Walk about Zion, go all around it,
count its towers,
13 consider well its ramparts;
go through its citadels,
that you may tell the next generation
14 that this is God,
our God for ever and ever.
He will be our guide for ever.
We are loved by a steadfast love that was known in the ancient poetry of this psalm and in this very moment — unceasing.
Through rise and fall.
Unceasing love.
Through twist and turn.
Unceasing love.
Through heartache and heart-mending.
Unceasing love.
Through shame and despair.
Unceasing love.
Through discovery and innovation.
Unceasing love.
Through grand speeches and quiet words that saved lives.
Unceasing love.
When we have risen to the occasion and when we have fallen far, far short.
Unceasing love.
Right now.
Unceasing love.
Then.
Unceasing love.
PRAYER:
May we put our shoulder
to the tasks ahead of us,
knowing your love
never ceases
and is with us through all the years.
Amen.
