Turmoil

1 Peter 1:6

In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,

Lord summer is over.
We put away the t shirts and the never-quite-fitting shorts and sandals
and look out the autumn
clothes,
A slightly thicker shirt
The annual hunt for scarves and gloves
and the annual trip to the shops to buy replacements.

All reminders that winter is around the corner.

How will it be?
Longer or shorter than the last.
Anticipation.
Worry.

Let Autumn in all its unpredictability and wildness prepare us for winter.
Remind us with the surprise of an indian summer day
and with woods ablaze in the first light of
morning,
that anything is possible.

Remind us that the world goes to sleep only to rise again.
and that seasons change one to another
like the seasons of our lives
you move through the seasons,
a bringer of change,
knowing what will come
and bringing summer again.
