1 Corinthians 12: 10-11 (NIVUK)
10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
Something I especially enjoy about being a creative contributor to Sanctuary First is working as a team. I love it when we get together and bounce ideas off each other. Someone is inspired by an idea which once expressed inspires someone else to build on it and so it goes on until we come to producing something that is fully formed. It is as if each of us has a wee piece of the picture and it is only when we come together does it become the whole vision, as God intended it to be.
It is the same with some of the gifts of the Spirit, they are manifested in collaboration with others to give the complete picture. The person with the prophetic word needs the person who can give meaning to that word. The person who speaks in tongues needs someone to translate. We need each other for the manifestation of these gifts to be fully understood.
Isn’t it wonderful that the manifestations of gifts of the Spirit bring us into deeper community and relationship with each other and with our God. That through the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit we can experience the wonder, the power and awe inspiring majesty of our God. That through the manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit we can see and feel that Spirit of God, the touch of God, the spark of God within each other.
Prayer:
Lord, your presence is life,
Fill me with your Spirit,
So that every fibre of my being radiates you.
Let my words speak life into all people I encounter, into all situations.
Let my every action be the embodiment of your love.
Breathe into me Lord and release your Spirit upon my life
