7 How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of the messenger who announces peace,
who brings good news,
who announces salvation,
who says to Zion, ‘Your God reigns.’
What do your shoes carry?
Bones and hopes?
Limbs and love?
A cherished message
to a beloved recipient
— good news?
Good News?
Do your shoes carry warning and wisdom?
Scuffed up stories
well worn and much travelled.
Do you kick up a cloud
of glory
sending the wicked trembling
and the wounded rejoicing?
Do you?
Do your shoes carry wear and tear
patches and loose stitching,
little holes where the beauty of God’s grace shines through?
God bless your beautiful battered shoes
and your beautiful hardy feet
bringing good news
lived Good News
to people who need to hear news of
goodness.

To The Best Of All News,
May we be good news to those who see us coming.
