The Gift of Love

1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud

Patience – perhaps not a good time of year to be challenged about this!
Kindness – something that can seem like second nature to us but is also easy to take for granted and ignore.
Jealousy – not easy to avoid in this world where we know so much about what others have and can do.
Conceit – something that we were taught to avoid, but which can creep in when we compare ourselves to others.
Pride – a word with two sides – good and not so good.

Love IS patient and kind
Love IS NOT jealous, conceited, proud

Loving God,
Teach me to be patient and kind, to see people and situations as you see them, to treat others as I would like to be treated.
Help me to avoid jealousy, conceit and pride as I go about my daily living. Remind me of who I am and what I represent as a member of Christ’s body in the world.
