1 Corinthians 13:3

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and angels give the sign.
 

Prayer

Love – that’s what Christmas is all about.

Love in human form coming into the world.

Love all lovely, love divine – not the sentimental kind that we’ve seen in films, books and adverts and heard about in songs.

Loving God, thank you for the reminder this Christmas of what the carol means.
You came down among us to show us what your love is like. 
You came as a baby to show us what our love should be like.
You show us that we need love so that we can truly live.
Help us to take time to love, to take time to understand how important love is in our world today.

Today, help me to look for ways to love in the name of Jesus.
