The Gift of Love
1Corinthians 12:22-26
22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Lord, most of us in Your Church believe we are loving people.
After all most of the time it is easy to love our families and friends.
And it is easy enough to lend a helping hand….when it is convenient.
But if we look closely at ourselves we realise that often we fail to show the love that You expect of us:
When we criticise others……
When we gossip…..
When we lose our tempers…..
When we fail to forgive……
When we see someone in need but choose to look the other way…..
When we fail to go the extra mile…..
Lord we don’t mean to let You down,
We try hard to get things right.
Lord You commanded us ‘to love one another’,
But Lord we cannot love enough on our own,
We are frail human beings….. we are ‘but dust!’
Holy Spirit please fill us this day with Your love,
Let Your love flow from each of us as we go about our daily tasks,
Only then will we be able to show the depth of love for others that you Lord Jesus expects of us.
Amen
